 photo 93d6de2a-3dc0-4f51-8fe2-117f98d4b96b.jpg

This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like. Only one prompt per comment please.

When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character/pairing, prompt word/sentence.

Lastly, please pimp this to your flist and on Tumblr and everywhere! I'd like as many as possible to come and participate!

Rules kept from last year:
If you want to request a queerplatonic ship you just use this symbol: ~ instead of the: / Read more about the concept HERE

Whitechapel, Joe Chandler/Emerson Kent, Joe accommodating someone in his life.
Tennis RPF, Roger Federer/Rafael Nadal, after they're both knocked out of a tournament.
It is a touch, just the one, and it is full of everything that they used to be. They never talked when it started and they never talked when it finished and they are certainly not going to talk now. Roger gets to his feet and drags his fingers down the tight muscle of Rafa's thigh until he reaches the hand perched on a taped knee and pulls the other man to his feet and into the privacy of the showers.
Tennis RPF, Andy Murray & Novak Djokovic, when they were younger with Novak teasing Andy about a blatant crush on Rafa.
Stormbringer trilogy - Kerry Greenwood, Bran/Scathe, I never saw this coming
Knights of the Old Republic (Comics) - Zayne/Jarael, can't help getting in trouble
"I can't help getting in trouble," Zayne explained, shaking the noodles from his hair, "it's - it's - you know what it is!"
Jarael did not show any hoped-for signs of "of course"; she was laughing, hard, which Zayne would not have even dared to hope for, because despite the turns for the better in their lives, she still was the graver of them two.
He threw a handful of noodles in *her* hair, and stole a kiss while she was distracted.

London Spy, Danny/Alex, dancing
Alex knows how to waltz, because of course he does but he's patient with Danny leading him round his spacious living room and smiling graciously when his toes are stepped on. Danny is used to a beat pulsing through him, music so loud you can feel it and deciding whether you want more than a grope from whoever is grinding against you. He's so out of his element here but Alex seems not to mind, smiling each time he strings a few correct steps together - it's far more formal than Danny is used to but it's time in the arms of the man he's falling in love with and their lesson ends with something far more beautiful than a grope in a darkened club.
Doctor Who, Twelve, Taking a break
A pause, that'd be nice; he's been running so long that he's forgotten what pauses are like. He could play chess, compose an opera, put his feet up, put his feet down, run around the TARDIS, foil an alien invasion with a paperclip-

...Pauses, he decides as he bounces back to the console, are actually boring - there's no time to waste, not when there's the whole of the universe to see!

Eye Candy, Tommy/Bubonic, cat-and-mouse game
Chess, Freddie/Anatoly, opening gambit
(Drawing on my memories of the college production of Chess in 1998, where my then-crush played Anatoly, so forgive me if my memory's not great!)

The first time Anatoly Sergievsky met Freddie Trumper, he thought he was pretty much the idiot described in all the newspapers right before the match.

When Anatoly made his opening move which Freddie reacted badly to, eventually leading to him throwing the chessboard to the floor and storming out like a two year old, he felt he’d been proved right.

But as he got to know Freddie the man, not Freddie his rival, Anatoly realised there was more to him than the way he had initially appeared.

Grimm, Nick/Adalind, the new normal
Doctor Who, 12/Clara, Coffeeshop AU
Not sure if this is works but...

He first met her when she was a Dalek on the Asylum and then as a governess in Victorian England; it should have been no surprise to see her once more in another incarnation and time.

But a coffeeshop was the last place he'd expect to come across her again, this time appearing in the guise of a barista--a recently-coined word in human vocabulary but one he's heard among races and on planets far older than Earth--and asking in a weary voice, "How can I help you?"

"No, no, dear gir--Clara," he amended as he noticed the name badge pinned to her blouse, "you've helped me several times already and now it's high time (and space) to repay the favour."

Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, defying gravity
“Why couldn’t you stay calm for once,” Rocket snarled, “instead on flying off the handle?”
“I am Groot,” Groot said mournfully.
“Sure you are,” Rocket said, “and sure we’ve got-” he checked the tank, “-‘bout four hours of clean air left before I suffocate.”
Doctor Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog, Doctor Horrible/Captain Hammer, pain, the good kind
"You owe me this," Hammer growls at him, his fingers pressing Billy's hips against the wall, "You took the best part of my life away."

Billy's eyes go a little blank. "I know."

Gravity Falls, Bill & Grunkle Stan, you need me but I don't need you
X-Men First Class, Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier, exploring more memories.
"You're always saying you think things shouldn't be so complicated between us, Charles - this would help -- and it's not like you haven't blocked my memories before."

"Those were memories of traumatic times - why would you want to block the best night we ever had together?"

Erik laughed, cruel; Charles still understood nothing of the world.

X-Men Days of Future Past, Hank McCoy/Charles Xavier, trustworthy.
Charles trusts Hank to look after him and that is good because someone has to but he wished it did not leave him feeling so guilty. He knows he should stop making the serum and force Charles to get sober and help him adjust to his disability but he doesn't. Because Charles trusts Hank.

MCU, Trish Walker/Steve Rogers & Bucky Barnes + Jessica Jones, most awkward double date ever
"The last blond she dated got brainwashed into almost murdering her, and then turned out to be a revenge-obsessed hyper-violent drug addict," Jessica says.

"The last blonde he dated was an undercover agent sent to spy on him by his own employer, and also his first girl's great-niece," Bucky retorts.

They both glance toward the counter where Trish and Steve are laughing their way through an ice cream purchase, then resume their mutual glaring contest because this is going to go catastrophically wrong -- no matter how much Steve and Trish protest that they are grown adults and can handle a relationship without tempting fate or needing paranoid nursemaids; both Bucky and Jessica know the universe is a vicious motherfucker with the worst sense of humor imaginable -- and like hell will either of them let their best friend bear the brunt of the damage when things (hearts, secrets, worlds) inevitably explode.
MCU, Bruce/Natasha, I have never wanted more to be a man/to build a house around you

The expanse of her white skin--my country, he thinks--is warm beneath his palm, and she stretches and purrs a moan.

We could be happy, Bruce thinks, you could be my home.

Natasha's eyes flutter closed, and Bruce watches the sun come up outside the window, the color of a mango's flesh and alone in the sky.

MCU, Bruce/Natasha, prove to me, i'm not gonna die alone
Natasha trails her fingers over the Hulk's green skin and thinks, yes, this time, this time we've got it, and then watches as he stumbles away from her, falling to the floor as his limbs shorten and he changes back into Bruce.

When he looks at her, the intense amount of relief in his eyes makes Natasha think maybe he's never changed like this before in his life, safe, controlled, free of the fear that someone's been hurt and of the fear that someone will hurt him, in the company only of a person who cares about him.

Natasha walks over and kneels beside him, taking his warm hand in hers and holding tight.

Narnia, Susan, Oh, the queen of peace/always does her best to please/is it any use/somebody's gotta lose
Tashbaan is never fully dark, and so they are discovered before the Splendour Hyaline is a bow-shot from the docks; the sea-chain (and how did they not notice its anchor-towers before?) is raised, and the threat of flaming arrows and a boarding action brings them back to shore. They could fight, could make a last stand and die free, but Susan talks Edmund down, reminds him that they cannot deprive Archenland of her only heir and forgives him for what he perceives as a repeat of his old betrayal; reluctantly, he agrees, and a month later leaves Calormen in chains for mocking delivery to the North.

She marries Rabadash to buy her brother's life -- marries him, bears his touch and his children, smiles at his triumphs, comforts his griefs, and dies at his side -- and if she resents the price, if her submission is a lie, if hers is the hand that wields the poison to ends both their lives in racking pains, no living man could say; Susan keeps her secrets unto death.
Batman or Daredevil, any, 'The Image of the City' / urban way-finding
The midterm project for his urban studies course involves making a mental map of St. Joseph's campus, based on Kevin Lynch's elements, so everyone in the class can compare and contrast the way they experience the same small stretch of physical space; while drawing is obviously out, Matt builds a lumpy model out of Play-Doh to accompany his verbal presentation and thinks long and hard about how to explain landmarks based on scent and sound, and the increased importance of edges when any venture into unfamiliar districts comes without the navigational crutch of reading street signs or orienting around visual landmarks from a distance.

He leaves half his paths unmarked and a full third of his landmarks unspoken. The freedom he finds on midnight rooftops is a private thing, and no matter how much he can do that a normal blind person can't, those gifts have nothing to do with passing this course: he doesn't need any distractions on his path through undergrad to law school (from node to node, he thinks, a bit wryly), and so, of course, he lies.

Harry Potter, Madame Pince, user-centered institution
Her library serves two mutually incompatible purposes: to provide appropriate instructional aid for underage wizards, and to hold the most complete repository of magical knowledge in northwestern Europe. Irma has petitioned for decades to split the collection -- or at the very least, move the restricted section into a separate room where she can establish security protocols with proper teeth -- but those two purposes are written into the school charter and would need a unanimous vote from the Board of Governors to make the most minor official alterations and Dumbledore won't circumvent them on this issue.

Perhaps the next Headmaster will be more open to the notion that the Founders never anticipated the effects of so many magical books confined in such close proximity. Until then, Irma does what she can to protect her books from her students, and vice versa.

She has managed thirteen years since the last accidental death.
MCU, Betty Ross/Helen Cho, Avengers adjacent
The Goblin Emperor, Csethiro Ceredin, practice
There was something very satisfying, Csethiro Ceredin thought, about putting into practice something she had, up until now, known only in theory.
She had not realized she had spoken aloud until Maia rolled over and cleared his throat, blush rising like a sunset, “Dost thou wish to practice more?”
“Yes,” she said, “Very much so.”
